New York City Off The Beaten Path

Off The Beaten Path: The Beaches: Most people will...
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Beaches: Most people will tell you that New York just isn't the place to enjoy a beautiful beach. But us New Yorkers love the beach, and there are plenty of them. Most of the beaches are located in the outer boros or east of New York, with Long Island having the best of them. Some of the nicest beaches are located out in the Hamptons, Montauk and of course Jones Beach. The beaches out in the Hamptons are dominated by the movers and shakers of the City along with the young preppy crowd. One of my favorite beaches has to be Long Beach located in Long Beach (Long Island) of course. What I really love about this beach is it is private, you have to pay to enter the beach, and after a long day under that hot sun, you can reward yourself with a short drive to some really great atmosphere, food and drinks at one of the many hangouts on Long Beach Island namely, Patty McGee's and Montego Bays. Be prepared to hang out with the a happening crowd with their fast cars and even faster boats. The bar/restaurants have boat slips which are pretty crowded and I would recommend you arrive early (before 5 p.m.) to get a slip and a parking spot as well. There is live music or a DJ hamming up some music with Sunday being the best day to hang. So, bring your bikini, sun tan lotion and plenty of money to hang out at this Long Island happening spot.

The journey on your NY pages was a great experience. By the way, "Who is buried in Grant's Tomb?" is an old joke only, is'nt it. L.
