San German was the second city founded by the Spainish in Puerto Rico in 1511.

The oldest settlement outside of San Juan San German is a pretty little town with much to see.

The Porta Coeli Church ("Gate of Heaven") pictured here, is the town's most famous building)
and dates to 1606 and is one of the oldest churches in the Western Hemishphere. It is the oldest church under U.S. jurisdiction. The

San German de Auxerre Church faces the traditional town hall.

Inter-American University, was established in 1912 (originally called the Polytechnic University).

    We were driving by this town, and my Spanish still wasn't very good, and I was reading it as the nationality, "German". LOL
    It's a shame we missed this town, as it looks interesting. I will try to visit it on my next trip.
