Exploring our Nation's Capital Everyone should pay a visit to our Nation's Capital at least once and most of us have done this visit as young students on a class trip. This was the case for me on my very first visit back in the late 70's.
It would be more than 20 years before I returned to this city and I've since returned at least once a year for the past three years. It's a fantastic city to explore on foot. I'm glad that I've had the opportunity to see this city as an adult and love visiting on weekend jaunts.
The musuems are world class there is always something new to explore for all those history buffs out there. |
| | A perfect weekend getaway Traveling to DC has always been a quick weekend getaway for us. I never get tired of spending time visiting some of my favorite museums and monuments. It's such a walkable city and everything of major interest is within short distances to each other. Ferni's favorite football team are the Washington Redskins, just another reason to visit this city.
DC is a great city to explore with children as well. The major museums and monuments are free and a great way to get introduced to American Hisotry.
And, you'll also find some really good and inexpensive dining choices here in DC, just another of my favorite things to do. |
So many places of interest The Nation's Capital is full of Monuments, Memorials, Museums, and plenty of Politicians. Exploring the multi faceted city is very easily done on foot.
Here are just a few of the major highlights for a visit to DC
White House (request through one's Member of Congress) Capital Building Lincoln Memorial Washington Monument Arlington National Cemetary WWII Memorial Smithsonian Institute's many museums (all free) Botanic Garden and other public gardens
