Just a short distance from Costa del Sol, but historically worlds away, Gibraltar stands apart with its history preserved waiting to welcome you to this small friendly British territory located on the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsular. You will be amazed at Gibraltar’s history and importance. The subject of repeated conquest and sieges, Gibraltar has been a British Territory since 1704. Ceded forever to Britain by Spain in the Treaty of Utrecht (1713), Gibraltar joined the EU in 1973, under the British Treaty of Accession.
Its strategic location and history have made it an international symbol of solidity and strength. Our driver gave us a brief history lesson while chauffeuring us up to the Rock.
