Exploring London Again | Me and Mom enjoying our time in London |
London is a great city and it makes for a wonderful escape from NYC, especially in the fall and winter when prices are so right for traveling. There are so many flights daily and because its such a short flight (only about 7 hours), London is a great choice for a quick weekend getaway.
I've been to London many times and my trips have always been brief ones. My first trip to London was in July 2002 when I spent a few days exploring and shopping with my then boyfriend Mark. In February 2005 I once again visited with mom and Kris for just a few days in route to Turkey. I did see a bit more of London during that trip. September 2007 found me here for a brief one day business trip and during that trip dinner was the only thing I was able to do here. But, in May 2008 I decided to give London a bit more attention and paid this wonderful city another visit. I was traveling alone, which allowed me to discover a larger area on foot than I had on the previous trips.
One of my favorite things to do in any city, especially a city like London is to leisurely walk around taking in all the city has to offer. Shopping, visiting museums, taking in some of its history, and enjoying good food is what I enjoy doing and London allows me to do just that. I can also do absolutely nothing and lounge in a bench and read, a great way to just unwind and relax in a large city like London. |
| A bit of shopping at the street markets |
| | Shopping in London London has some of the best places to do some shopping. From the shops on Oxford Street, Knightsbridge, Harrods or even the street markets, you'll definitely find it all here in London. One of my favorite things to do while I am here in London is visit some of the specialty shops found only here.
Along with the great shopping there is also some excellent and exciting places to eat and to party, so go ahead and find yourself in London, you'll definitely be happy you did. |
Monuments, museums and gardens Visit some of London's famous momuments, museums and gardens, many of which are free to the public and get your fill of history and culture.
Here are some of my favorite London highlights:
St. Paul's Cathedral (make sure to climb to the dome) House of Parliment Westminster Abbey Buckingham Palace British Museum (check out the famous Rosetta Stone) National Gallery Victoria and Albert Museum Tower of London Tower Bridge London Eye (get a bird's eye view of London) Universe Dali (My personal favorite museum here in London) Hyde Park (Stop by Princess Diana's memorial fountain) St. James Park
Just to name a few...... | | | We made it to the top of St. Paul's |
