Central Sydney Restaurants: Restaurant with a 360 View

  • Enjoining a Mojito before lunch

  • Restaurant Name: Summit Restaurant & Orbit Lounge

On our last afternoon in Sydney we decided to splurge a bit and go for an exceptional lunch. We wanted something a bit upscale since we had eaten most of our meals in the hotel. We asked the concierge about a local restaurant with views and he recommened this place.

The resatuarant is beautiful, located in a high rise business building. We were treated with 360 views of the city of Sydney not to mention some really great food. The restaurant is on a circular platform that rotates around the building giving you a different view as it takes about an hour to fully rotate.

Doug (aussiedoug) was picking us up and taking us to the airport, so we invited him to enjoy lunch with us.

Favorite Dish: We each ordered a 1 course lunch. I believe I had the ocean trout and I know that the other members of our party ordered the beef filet and the chicken, but I am not sure who ordered what. The trout was excellent and we also ordered a sour loaf which came with an assortment of hummus and different sauces for dipping.

I enjoyed a Mojito which was quite nice.

    Meals are not cheap..

The Rocks and Circular Quay Restaurants: German restaurant at Circular Quay
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Lowenbrau Keller

According to many sources, The Löwenbräu Keller is Sydney's best known, most authentic German restaurant.

They offer Bavarian cooking with traditional dishes and beers in a typical Bavarian atmosphere.

Favorite Dish: After walking around the Rocks we needed some refreshments, more like a beer. We decided to stop here. We didn't order food as we were having dinner at another location.

We did however enjoy a few glasses of Spatan a nice crisp German beer.

There are family style or bench like tables located outside of the restaurant. We decided we wanted to enjoy some people watching with our beers and sat outside.

Please note that because of its popularity the prices are on the overpriced side.

    Chinatown Restaurants: Fantastic Chinese
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Dixon

We came across this restaurant as we were exploring China Town. We noticed that there were plenty of people seated outside and the prixe fix lunch menu looked yummy.

Favorite Dish: The prixe fix menu for AUS $12 was a fantastic price. The price included soup and spring rolls with the main course. I had the chicken with cashews and my travel partner had the chicken with vegatables. The meal also included rice with came in a steaming rice cooker.

Harry's Cafe de Wheels - Pies: Pies, what else
  • Tip Rating:

I couldn't have any of the meat pies as I had given up all forms of beef, pork or red meat for lent, but we purchased a drink. The smell of the pies was heavenly.

    Hard Rock Cafe: American Fair

Okay, don't get me wrong here, I would say that the food here is like any other Hard Rock Cafe in the world regarding food. What makes them distintive is the decor.

My reason for visiting any given Hard Rock Cafe is probably for a quick drink and to visit the shop to purchase my daughter her obligatory Hard Rock tee.

Favorite Dish: Don't really have one, but I have had the sizzling fajitas which are very good.
