Getting TO/AROUND: Getting around by Metro: I love the metro systems here in Paris, its easty and safe to navigate. I would note that you should be familiar with the line and dircetion of the metro stop you would like to exit. Note the closings of the metro at some time around midnight.

On my frist trip to Paris I purchased a carnat (10 tickets). Please hold on to your ticket stub as some station require it upon your exiting.

Getting TO/AROUND: Hailing a taxi in Paris is very easy and most convenient, especially if there are more than two people traveling together. The taxi drivers in Paris are very pleasant and most of them speak English.

    Driving: Driving around Paris

Getting TO/AROUND: You can try to be a brave soul and navigate the streets of Paris by driving. Once you get a hang of the layout of the streets, it isn't that difficult but I would recommend that if you are on a short holiday, skip the driving and use the metro, bus or taxi system. Parking in Paris can be quite hellish and so can the traffic.

    Driving: Driving out of Paris
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Car/Motor Home
Getting TO/AROUND: You may drive with a valid U.S. driver's license in France. In addition, it is recommended (not required) to carry an International Driving Permit or attach a French translation to your US driver's license. You must also be at least 18 years old and hold a valid credit card.

    There are several good car hire companies throughout Europe, I would recommend one of the following;

    ADA – 0825 169 169
    Avis – 0820 150 505
    Europcar – 0870 607 500
    Hertz – 0720 903 905

The speed limit is 50 km/h (30 mph) in the towns, and 90 km/h (55 mph) on the open roads.

Flying: Flying into GDG with American Airlines
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': TO
    Category: Airplane
Getting TO/AROUND: Charles de Gualle Airport is one of the busiest and largest airports in Europe and every major (and minor ones too) airline have flights to Paris via CDG. Although the airport can be a bit confusing, transportation into Paris city center is quite easy.

I usually only fly American Airlines into CDG as I am an elite member and with two direct flights from NYC, it's easy and convenient for me.

The flight is usually a nice and comfortable 8 hour flight, with pleasant flight attendants.

All of the American Airlines flights arrive/depart from Terminal 2A (Except flights to/from London which are in Terminal 2B).

For information about which terminal your flight will arrive in, check out the website below.

RER (Regional Trains): RER from the airport to Paris city center
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': TO
    Category: Train
Getting TO/AROUND: RER is a great way to get from CDG to Paris city centre. Service runs 7 days a week from 4:45 am to 1:30 am and the timebles are posted in the stations and on the platforms.

Depending on what part of Paris you plan to visit, you will either take the A, B, C RER.

Just found your pages. Great stuff on Paris. We've just started posting our pictures of Paris and Versailles from last October. Can't wait to get back. Hopefully I'll have some videos with music soon.
