I found the hotel was not so keen to change RMB (local currency) back into other currencies, so don’t change too much to start with. .

Only a few hotels can offer quality tap water. It is advised to have flasks of hot and cooled boiled water in the room. Bottled mineral water is widely available.

Pollution can get a bit bad around the city. After walking all day I was covered in grit and my white shirt was a distinctive grey.
