Scotland is made up of nine regions (Highland, Grampian, Tayside, Fife, Lothian, Central, Borders, Strathclyde, and Dumfries and Galloway). These regions are then divided into districts, and three island authorities -Orkney Islands, Shetland Islands, and Western Isles which have the larger part of the 787 islands that make up Scotland.
Scotland is well known for its mountainous and beautiful scenery not to mention the lochs which is the general term for the Scottish lakes. The lot of west coast side of the country is interconnect by Sea Lochs. Loch Fyne is the longest of these and travels more than 40 miles inland. Notable fresh-water lochs include Loch Ness - the one with the Monster!
English is the official language although Gaelic is spoken, primarily in the North and West of Scotland.

great pages although i have never heard of anyone in scotland giving presents on hogmanay in stead of christmas or piping in the haggis at hogmanay i thought we only did this at burns day celebrations but anyway fantastic pages
Nice overview. Eddrachillis reminds me of Albany in W.A.
Try getting the English to accept a Scottish bank note - monopoly they think
Stevenson has been speaking for NZ too...the weather! never been in Scotland KW, your page does remedy some of my shortcomings,as such....there is not much under his Kilt LOL thanx Matey
Great pages on Scotland, however, most international flights actually go to Glasgow Airport not Prestwick, which is 32 miles west of city. At least the last 20 or so times that I have gone there, it was into Glasgow Airport.
wow, just beautiful! hope to visit scotland too one day
