This was a busy little restaurant on a Saturday. The frontage is actually on South College street but the sign asks you to enter from the Dove Antique Store on the corner where there is a entrance into the restaurant. Its all a family effort. The mother owns the antique store and the daughter and husband run the restaurant. The set up began in 1992 in the back of the gift shop. Its now a very popular spot for local shoppers and tourists to Waxahachie. You can browse the store while waiting for your name to be called for a vacant table in the restaurant . They even have their own cookbook featuring some of their favourite recipes.

Open for Lunch Monday through Saturday 11:00 - 2:00

The Creola Cafe service some good old Louisiana tucker with specialties such as shrimp remoulade, oyster and catfish poboys, seafood gumbo, etouffee and terrific bread pudding.

This is just a tiny little cafe that the locals obviously feel very comfortable in. No fancy decorations, just your basic style and food selection and the staff are very friendly. They serve breakfast with the usual bacon, sausage, hash browns and eggs and a special lunch menu of soup, fried okra, macaroni cheese, mashed potato, or you can just order a burger, fries, sandwich or a sample of their fried pies. I think they did side salads as well.

Restaurant Name: Too Many Choices

When visiting the Faire, go hungry otherwise you will miss out on all the wonderful choices that are available all around the festival. They report that over 20 tons of the festivals famous giant turkey legs are consumed annual during the run of the festival. There are over 60 different menu items can is way more than you can ever hope to partake in.

Restaurant Name: Village Kitchen

This caught my eye since what I know as fish and chips is not usually available in the U.S. or at least in places I have visited. Here they sell fish and chips and spicy catfish and chips. The chips (or fries if you are an American) are large and while the fish was good, it was breaded and deep fried a little too much. It was good but had some after effects from the oil. The cost I think was about $3.50.

If your fancy is Italian, then you can get pizza bread covered with spicy tomato sauce, topped with zesty cheeses and covered with pepperoni. Not to mention the Italian Ice to cool you down on 100F days.

This pub is right opposite the Mud Pit. They serve a variety of beers, wines and Margaritas. There is a large covered seating area. Not sure if they serve food also.

Restaurant Name: Royal Cafe

One of my favourites was the wonderful 'fryed ice cream' which was coated with the 'special ingredients', then fried and served with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. While going light on the cream, this was fantastic!!!.. About $3.00.
