The house was originally built in the late 1890's by a jewellery owner, Soren Kolstad and his wife Sophie. Ladies retail owner, May Rogers bought the property in 1914 and turned it into a boarding house. She lived in the house until her death in the mid 70's when she willed the house to the Baptist Foundation of Texas. The house was sold several times before being bought by the Dyers in 1998. There is quite a history of uninvited drifters, scandals, threatening fires and a couple of ghosts.
