McKinney is in Collin County, just 20 miles north of Dallas. The first settlers to this area came from Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas in and around 1841. At that time the county was named Buckner but was later changed to honour Collin McKinney (from which the city was also named after) who served as a guide for those arriving and settling in the area. He was also significant in being one of the people who were asked to write a declaration of separation from Mexico which later was known as the Declaration of Independence.
During 1866 Jessie and Frank James along with their gang, were regular visitors to McKinney where they had a cousin (Tuck Hill) living.

What a lovely and historical place this seems. The Prison bar and grill sounds interesting but seems you cant get a 'light snack' there anymore - lol
