    Getting TO/AROUND: The State Park is located 22 miles east of downtown Houston. You can get to it by I-610 East take Texas Hwy 225 east for 11 miles to Texas Hwy 134 (which is Battleground Rd.) and continue north about 3 miles to the park.
    .
    Or take I-10 East to Lynchburg Rd., go south 2 miles to ride the free Lynchburg Ferry which is what we did. Once across the Houston Ship Channel, it will be a short drive on Texas Hwy. 134 to the park.

     With the tall monument and reflecting pool, this could be mistaken for Washington, DC. The battleship brought back memories of Wilmington, NC when i toured the USS North Carolina.
