Shuttles: Getting Around
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Other
Getting TO/AROUND: Airport Shuttles : are a definite step up from busing it. Rates range from $10 to $20 per person (tickets can be bought from the driver) and it's a door-to-door service.

Taxi : The most expensive - but most convenient - option for getting into town may be your only recourse if your plane lands in the wee hours. Taxis are found outside the terminal's baggage claim area in a zone marked with yellow columns. Be sure to haggle for a flat rate.

Cable Cars: Climb Aboard the Cable Car

Getting TO/AROUND: Cable Car : No trip to San Francisco is complete without taking a ride on the famous cable cars. They can sure get crowded though, so you may have to almost hang on the outside. Tickets can be purchased at the turnarounds or from the conductor as you board.

    Combined Suggestions: Try The Trains

Getting TO/AROUND: The rail system (bart) is very good. I took a train out to Bay Fair shopping centre without any trouble at all - very easy to follow. The Caltrain runs between San Fran and San Jose.
