Keeweechic's Los Angeles

by keeweechic - last update: Aug 3, 2006

Los Angeles which means 'The City of Angels', was founded by the Spanish settlers in 1781. It lies between mountains, ocean and desert. The city today is home to over a hundred different cultures and almost the same amount of languages. It is the second most populated city in the United States with 3.5 million people and known as the city of disaster and style.

One of the well known facts about Los Angeles is that it lies on one of the worlds major fault zones - the San Andreas Fault, which comes within 35 miles of the downtown area of the city. In the past, three dozen lesser faults that run off it have been responsible for five serious earthquakes in the last century and dozens of slight, almost undetectable, quakes every week.

For both residents and tourists, Los Angeles is a place for business, sun and beaches, movie stars, shopping, Disneyland, Universal Studios and an endless supply of attractions, museums, restaurants and nightclubs, making it all a bit overwhelming. It is the city of movers and shakers and I'm not just talking about earthquakes.
I have been to or through LA about 3 times, never spending enough time on each occasion and tend to venture out of the city more than within it. There is so much to see there that you really need to spend a good deal of time trying to cover even a small part of it. Then, there are all the great areas surrounding it, up and down the coast.

American waiters and waitresses expect a tip of 20%, but will settle with 15%. 10% is absolutely unacceptable!

Nice job! I thought the Munsters was funnier than the Addams Family anyhow.
