New Orleans Superdome

This is the worlds largest steel constructed covered arena which is unobstructed by posts. It is home of the city’s professional football team – the New Orleans Saints. The arena holds the worlds records for an indoor concert of 87,500 people which was for the Rolling Stones concert in 1981. It has also played host to more Superbowls than any other facility. With all the buildings attached to the Superdome, the complex covers 52 acres. The height is 272 ft and the diameter of the dome is 680ft.

Baton Rouge

Pete Maravich Assembly Center is the domed building to the right which is also known as the "Deaf Dome". The stadium which was opened in 1971 can seat over 14,000 spectators. The building was named after the late "Pistol Pete" Maravich, a LSU basketball star player who played three seasons and still currently holds the all-time career scoring record for the NCAA. He then went on to play professionally. At a cost of $11.5 million, the building is one of the most versatile on campus, providing a sports arena, concert facilities, and an auditorium. To the rear is Tiger Stadium, known as “Death Valley”. The original seating capacity was 12,000 in 1926 and the total capacity now is 91,644.
