Venice boasted twice as many opera houses and theatres as Paris and three times as many as London. Theatre in English is nonexistent in Venice, and English-language cinema is rare. . Opera is limited. Still, classical music concerts occur regularly (about L20.000-40.000, often with discounts available) and are very easy to find: watch for the men and women in elaborate costumes handing out fliers around the city. Churches often offer free or inexpensive concerts in the summertime; ask at the tourist office for a list of current events. . Venice's main casino, in an elegant early Renaissance palace, offers traditional American and French casino games. Minimum age 18; ID mandatory. Jacket and tie required for admission to all but slot machines (rental jackets available). It is located in a palace on the Grand Canal. A new mini-casino is located near the airport. (Foreign passports are required, and the casino has a dress code. .

Fabulous page with brilliant photos. I am just back from Venice. These directly added 12 % service charge to restaurants bills is in my opinion a Tourist Trap. I never saw that in any other Italian city ... |
