Old Parliament House is an important part of Australia's history as a nation. It was affectionately known as the ‘wedding cake’ when the Federal Government moved to Canberra in 1927 and this was its first home. The building was supposed to be a temporary structure but Parliament continued to sit here until 1988, when the new Parliament House opened on Capital Hill. Open daily 9am to 4pm
