Geelong is the second largest and most livable city in Victoria and is only one hour's drive from Melbourne. The city’s name comes from the Aboriginal word Jillong which means "a place of the sea bird over white cliffs".
The Geelong Otways Peninsular is famous for its surfing, which lies between Bells Beach and the Twelve Apostles. The Great Ocean Road is a magnificent coastal road that winds from Torquay all the way down to the well known Twelve Apostles.
Bollards : This was a $150m redevelopment of the Waterfront in Geelong. The landmark addition is made up of more than 100 brightly painted bollards, created by local artist Jan Mitchell. These bollards attempt to display Geelong’s history. |
