The Gold Coast has been a popular holiday destination for Australians for almost 100 years. The region is made up of contrasts from tropical fruit plantations, the magnificent lushness of the Hinterland with its spectacular views and of course white sandy beaches that span for miles.
The various towns and cities that stretch along the coast are full of high rise apartments and hotels which are booked to capacity in the summer months. Behind the high-rises are a series of lagoons and waterways that twist and turn their way through suburbs. Lamington National Park is Australia's largest reserve of subtropical rainforest and offers nearly 160km of walking tracks.
There is never a shortage of things to do whether it be camping or bush walking, lazing on the beach or surfing, or hitting the nightlife and casino. There are also 4 major theme parks on the Gold Coast to enjoy. |
| | I first went to the Gold Coast when I was 9 when I was on a cruise around the Pacific Islands and Australia and had my first taste of Currumbin Sanctuary and feeding the many brightly coloured birds there. I then went back in my early 20's staying with friends in Brisbane.
My last visit to the Gold Coast was more business orientated when I was living in Melbourne and did a familiarisation weekend with our business travel agents that I used in Sydney to the 3 three theme parks there that my company (at that time) owned. My travel agents 'Travelforce' organised all the travel and accommodation and I organised the visits to our theme parks, including a scenic helicopter ride. It was amazing to see how the region had grown so much in my absence. |
