Austria is a mix of sophistication and rustic simplicity. There are excellent restaurants and music festivals, towering mountains and green valleys, and a skiers delight in winter. Lush valleys flank the river banks, the most famous of which is the Danube which is Europe's longest river. There are many others such as the Inn, the Ill, and the Drau as well as many beautiful lakes. Austria is a paradise for those who enjoy the outdoor sports. The wondrous snow laden Alps in winter draws skiers, ice-skaters and many other sports enthusiasts. The Grossglockner is the highest peak rising to 3,797m (12,457ft). In summer the landscape becomes conducing for hiking or horseback riding. Austria is one of Europe's most heavily wooded countries with 46% of the country forested. Golf and tennis as well as trout fishing are also popular.

Nice page about my home country! Next time when you go over the Semmering pass make a stop there... It´s an old holiday resort in a beautiful surroundings. Coming soon, I will buid a page about it. I only have to scan the slides....
