There are five basic regions of Europe, Western Europe, the British Isles, Northern or Nordic Europe, Mediterranean Europe and Eastern Europe. Before WWI the borders were defined by empires that existed such as the German Empire and the Astro-Hungarian Empire. After the war, these areas began to split up and left Europe with many changing borders which eventually became the countries we know today.

If you are touring through several countries in the same trip, be prepared to see castles and churches and more castles and churches and eventually if you are on a long tour through Europe will not want to see another castle or church ever again in your life! But the magic of Europe with all that it entails will forever remain with you. My first experience was on an organised tour and while it is not everyone's cup of tea, it was for me at that time the best way to cram as much in as possible in the time that I had. It was truly an experience which I don't regret. It was hurried and frenzied at times but also brought about some great memories and wonderful friendships that linger today. It gave me the taste to go back and explore more on my own.

I realise that this is not all of Europe - as has been pointed out on occasions - but I can only show what I've personally seen. Hopefully one day I will see a lot more

The suburbs of Prague are too big and too ugly! Prague is not beautiful everywhere and particularly this city is very small!
