I went to Cancun the end of March 2001 and i loved it.The beaches are wonderful,the people are friendly,the food and drink are fantastic and the weather was perfect.Im missing it already.
In 1974,Quintana Roo became the 13th state of Mexico.At the same time,FONATUR decided to create Mexicos largest resort city on a small sandbar called Cancun.So then came paved roads,airports,electricity,telephone,television,congestion,and in influx of immagrants from other parts of Mexico to work there.

Cancun has an ideal climate with an average temp of 28c(82f) and is on the beautiful Caribbean sea.It is a snorkelers and divers paradise.Cancun has a hotel zone which stretches the length of a 15km(9 mile) coral sand bar linked to the mainland by bridges at each end.The hotel zone is mega resort after mega resort,trying to be better than the next.Cancun was built mainly for Americans,but many European people do go here.Cancun is divided into 2 main areas,Hotel zone and Downtown.The hotel zone is a 7 shaped island,which is joined to mainland by the Punta Nizuc bridge.The large natural lagoon(Nichupte)where i stayed next to,goes southwards between the island and the mainland.Facing the hotel zone is a National Marine Park and has the best beautiful reefs in Cancun.
