RACHEL SUNS NEW ROME PAGE

by rachel_sun - last update: Jul 29, 2003

Since its foundation over 2700 years ago on seven hills near the banks of the river Tiber,Rome has grown into a city of three million people covering 1,500 km of southern italy.Within this area is the independent Vatican City State. It is about 17 miles from the sea and has good rail links to many other italian towns and cities.

ROME is in southern europe and it has two airports. There is so much to see and do.Rome has the highest concentration of churches in the world.Strolling around the streets ,you will see the many great shops and bars and fountains and historic buldings.Rome is one of the worlds most photogenic cities, not surprizing when you remember what is here,The Vatican, the Trevi fountain, the Spanish steps to name a few.

SHOPPING is great, with a good selection of boutiques and smaller shops with an elegant yet casual italian style. There are also nice items for the home and delicious culinary delights. The street markets are great. You will find youself surrounded by a noisy-merry go round of Vespas, cars and taxis, all honking thier horns. The italians are famous for taking the time to enjoy life.Stop for an espresso,a cappucino or a glass of wine and just relax and people watch.

I loved the city, with something to see up every street and the great restuarants and bars and the friendly people. The city has a kind of magic and you will definatly want to return.Rome will always be there, afterall,it is the ETERNAL CITY Temperatures tend to be around 18c(66f),but can hit 28c(85),so by mid may you can dine and lunch outside.May to Oct is hot.The run up to christmas is good fun ,but do take warm clothes and warm up with a cappuccino.
