Many good shops in Paphos
What time shops open depends on the time of year.Summertime shops open from 8.30 am til about 7.30pm.In major tourist areas shops stay open til 10pm or so.Some shops close from 1 til 4pm.Gift shops tend to stay open til late.Furniture and electrical shops close for lunch etc. Most places close early on Wednesday and Saturday and I think this is because there are lots of weddings on these days and it's like their weekend to them. Most shops close all day Sunday.Banks do not open very long either. From around 8.30 am til 12.30pm.Some banks in busy resorts do a tourist service too and they will put notices of this on there front.Petrol stations open early. From around 6.30am til 7pm or so.Wednesday they also close early.2pm.Some petrol stations have a thing where you put the petrol in and pay in an automatic machine. You can pay with your card or notes. We found this easy. You simply pay for how much petrol you want and then get the pump and put it into your car. When the amount you have payed for has gone in the pump cuts out.

Two pairs of sandals i bought home
Kato Paphos was a shoppers paradise. The gift shops also sold sandals.Ethnic style.I bought two pairs as the quality was good and the price was good too. These sandals cost me £8cy and £10cy.They are locally made and you will see them everywhere. The shopping was so much better than i ever imagined in Cyprus.Huge big shops and there was even a Next in Paphos.
What to buy: The best place to buy food is a supermarket.Pappantonios is a great supermarket on the Chloraka road. You will see large supermarkets everywhere near Paphos.Chris Cash and Carry on the Polis Road in Paphos was very good.It opens til 8pm and had a great selection of foods and drinks.I paid the following prices for things.
4 cans pepsi=1.85
85gms crisps=0.46
orange juice one lr=0.89
hamburger 100gms=0.48
bottle aphrodite dry white wine=2.20
packet 6 swordfish frozen steaks=3.38

Tasty Cyprus Delight
I was surprised how good the supermarkets were in Cyprus.Very modern and with it.Everything also was marked up in English. They had a Woolworth's in Cyprus. It was on the road towards airport.Paphos airport from Kato Paphos.Woolworth's was a huge shop.Downstairs it sold garden ware and kitchen stuff.BBQ'S and sunloungers.DIY tools etc.Blinds.Lights.Plates.Household goods. Then upstairs there was a huge selection of clothes. It was very trendy and when I go back I will buy some clothes as they were a good price.
What to buy: Woolworth's also sold food.I bought some locally produced Cyprus Delight here and some Aphrodite wine. The food was slightly dearer than a normal supermarket but it was like say Marks and Spencer quality. The Cyprus delight came in many flavours and pineapple was my fav.It was only around 0.70cy.I bought 4 boxes home as gifts.Woolworth's also sold a big range of olives in oil and herbs. They were tasty with a fesh salad.Woolies also had a trendy coffee shop out front. We had a drink there and it was very like Marks and Spencer kind of thing.Top notch.
Directions: Woolworth's on road from Paphos to airport. On a roundabout.

Sunglasses I bought for £7 Cyprus
Also in Kato Paphos I found sunglasses were good prices. Most gift shops had racks of sunglasses for sale. You could buy fake designer ones or just normal ones.I bought the pair in the pic for £7cy.My mum and nanny bought a pair of fake desinger ones for £8 cy.Glasses are also good value in Cyprus. My dad bought his glasses while in Cyprus as they are better quality and alot cheaper than here in England.
What to buy: I also saw loads of cd's and dvd's for sale in gift shops. Some were pirate copies.I bought one cd called Mikis Theodorakis-instrumental & songs with bouzouki. It cost me £4 cy.My mum went into a shop and heard a modern type Greek cd playing and she asked the owner if he had it for sale and he said yes.She bought it for £2cy.It was a pirate copy.I saw shelves full of pirate dvd's too but did not buy any. There were films out that I thought had not come to dvd yet in the shops.
What to pay: £2cy for copied cd.£6 cy for dvd.£7cy for sunglasses.
Directions: Kato Paphos harbour area.

Marble egg i bought
Cyprus had amazing shopping and things such as leather, woven goods, ceramics, copperware, baskets, silverware and Lefkara lace are all must buys.Lefkara lace is from a village near the Troodos mountains as is very famous and is widely exported .You can also buy huge woven coloured baskets that are used to carry bread in.You will see these everywhere.
What to buy: Silverware and copperware are worth buying. My mum bought my nanny a silver ring for £15cy and the range of beautiful necklaces and rings was amazing. There are many good jewellers around. Also amber is a good buy in Cyprus. You can also buy fake desinger watches. My mum's watch had a flat battery after a few days and she tried getting the battery fixed but not one shop could do it as her watch needed a special machine that presurised the back to remove the watch back.So she bought a cheap fake watch so she had the time on her etc.It cost her £13cy.It looked pretty good to me.There are fake watches in most gift shops along seafront in Kato Paphos area.
What to pay: £13cy for fake designer watches.£15cy for a silver ring."10 cy for a basket
Directions: Kato Pahos area. The egg I bought was only £1 cy.

Leather was great value
I found the shops down at Kato Paphos harbour great for gifts to take back home. The leather goods were very good value. Most shops near harbour sold belts(real leather) and leather bags and wallets etc.I bought my dad a leather belt for £6cy.And my hubby a leather belt for £3cy.The choice was huge and some shops had special offers on.I bought myself a small zip up purse, again real leather for £3cy.Shops had racks of leather belts hanging up.Also along Kato Paphos harbour and road along coast there were lots of little pleasant squares too that had shops around them.
What to buy: Leather belts and wallets and bags and purses.
What to pay: £3-6cy for a real leather belt.£3cy for a real leather purse.£20cy for a real leather handbag.
Directions: Along Kato Paphos harbour area and along coast road. Also dont forget to check out little squares that lead away off road.

Beautiful and skilled pottery
Another great pottery shop I found was on the way back from Visiting Aphrodite's Rock.It was a huge warehouse style shop and it was full up of wonderful pots and plates and mugs etc.We spent about half an hour looking round. It also had outside pots etc for sale. This is where my mum bought me the carafe jug.It was £6 cy.I now have it in my kitchen.
What to buy: Buy some beautiful hand painted plates and cups. They also done tiles and house numbers.Mugs, flower pots, outside pots, egg cups, vases.Basically anything and everything you could think of.Along the road this shop is on there were also sebeval other pottery shops worth checking out.You could simply pull up and park outside. They open from around 9am til around 8pm.Some close for lunch from 1pm til 4pm.
What to pay: A carafe was £6 cy and my mum bought two tiles with her house number on for £3 cy.

Tasty liquors
I really enjoyed shopping for locally produced drinks. The local beer called Keo was very good and I found the local Liquors very tasty.I bought 5 bottles back. The small bottles in the picture cost me £1.50 each(Cy£) and the large bottle cost me £3.50(cy£).Wine in the supermarkets was also good value. You could buy cartons and bottles.A bottle of wine cost about £2.English.Or £2.50 Cy.Anything that has been imported is expensive.Stuff like named brands such as Malibu,Bacardi Rum etc.Dearer than the Uk.A bottle of Malibu was £18 cy £.Very expensive. So shop for locally made drinks as they are great value.
What to buy: Raki(Turkish) and Zivania(Greek) was also good value. The range of alcohol was huge and I had a blast trying all sorts of stuff. The wine was very good indeed and I got through plenty of bottles.Again drink the local made stuff. The liquors came in tasty flavours.I bought a banana one, strawberry, coconut, coffee and ameretto.I found buying drinks from proper supermarkets was cheaper than buying stuff from a typical tourist shop.A good supermarket i went to was called"Orphanides" along Tomb of the King's road. They had great price wine.
What to pay: Another good supermarket was Chris Cash and Carry along Polis Road-Paphos.

I bought these two hand made items home
I found the Pottery wonderful in Cyprus.Huge big shops that made and sold vast quantities of pottery were around Paphos. My mum likes the huge earthenware storage jars which are called pitharia. We saw some of these pots at people's entrances to their houses. They used to be used for keeping oil and water etc. They are very expensive and hard to move and break easily as their size is so big.A village called Kornos still makes and sells pottery.I enjoyed walking along Kato Paphos harbour and looking at the huge range of beautifully coloured and painted pottery.I bought myself a caraffe pot for wine(well my mum bought it for me) and a small olive bowl. The oilve bowl was £3.
What to buy: The choice of pots and plates was simply mind blowing. One place I stopped at was called Savvas Pottery. It was a huge shop full of stunning hand made pottery. The company has been going since 1964.The shop had modern pieces and more traditional and some pots had scenes painted on them from popular mythology.I bought one piece from here.A small bowl. Most things here would make a great gift for a friend.Everything was priced sensibly. They had things such as cups, plates, mugs, bowls.
They also have a website you can order off.
What to pay: I paid £5 for my small bowl.A mug was £5.A plate was £6.
