As a city dweller in a crowded and increasingly polluted urban environment, I travel to free my body, mind and soul. Leaving the sights and sounds of the busy metropolis behind and forgetting all my cares for even just one day allows me to recharge and see things from a fresh perspective.
I've always felt close to nature and going somewhere where I can get face to face with it and observe, admire and learn, are very important in increasing my understanding of and connectivity to this planet.
The earth is round, not square. You appreciate this most when you are on a beach, staring into infinity. No borders, no edges, no corners that force you to turn back. Everything is interconnected. We see the same sunset, no matter which "corner" of the world we are from.
At the end of the day, a journey serves as a wake-up call. Seeing magnificent geographical wonders makes me realise that I am but a tiny little human living out my insignificant life on this amazing planet we call Earth. If there is one thing to be thankful for, it is the fact that we are alive and have had a chance to live, experience and grow.

Am-y, you must try add the neighbouring Subcontinent to your credits. You'll experience something really different..
I love "off the beaten track" too!
Have a happy birthday!
Happy Birthday, Am-Y!
Happy birthday :)
Happy birthday Am Y: hope you have a great day and a wonderful, travel-filled year ahead!
Regards
Cathy
That's a nice idea to take pictures of the post offices around the world.
Thanks! I do it because I have to visit the post office anyway - I sent my friends postcards whenever I travel. :)
Hi Am
And thanks for the offer!
It's a long time since I was in Singapore: it was a point of transit when I was working in Australia, but I haven't had too much reason to venture east in the past few years. There is the possibility that I might be travelling on business to Sarawak in the next few months (which would probably mean changing plane in Singapore) and, if so, I'll keep you posted!
Regards
Cathy
Please do! :) And if there's anywhere you'd like me to take you to I'd be glad! Gardens by the Bay is a new attraction here. I need to visit Sarawak sometime too! ;)
Happy Birthday to you Ammy...and many more travels....and postcards.:)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
WISH YOU MANY HAPPY RETURENS OF THE DAY
MAY ALL YOUR DREAM COMES TRUE THIS YEAR
