White Christmas

White Christmas in the UK 2010. Ok, so we suffered delays, diversions, cancellations etc etc, but the snow, while it lasted, certainly looked beautiful.

Arriving

Lone tree braves the cold

The worst part of our journey so far was actually getting here. We came from Hong Kong via Dubai on Emirates Airways and should have landed in Birmingham Airport. All was going well and we were even early but then, horror of horrors - snow. Birmingham Airport closed, we got diverted to Newcastle. 4 hours sitting on the plane waiting for the airport to reopen, then the pilot finally gave up. Coached from Newcastle to Birmingham about 12 hours added to total journey time. Still we got there in the end.

Other Troubles

Lady Godiva really should wear more.

Having spend a very pleasant day in Buckinghamshire with family we attempted to return to Birmingham Airport by train cue delays, signal failure, broken down trains and lines brought down. Abandonned train at Coventry and tried to travel by bus, cue drivers not turning up, heavy snow fall, major delays. Still we finally made that, too. The joys of winter travel.
