Fun at the lake - Big Bear Lake
Fun at the lake

We spent the 4th of July in a cabin in Big Bear with 53 people (all family). One day we all went to the lake and had some major water fun, boats, ski jets, you name it..

I even felt an earthquake while there, I was standing outside, we hear thunder and right after the land started to shake and I felt like if I was on a boat, weirdest sensation, as I have never been out during one of them.

And now a bit of history for those who care : It was once only populated by The Grizzly bears, from which it got it's name. The population grew rapidly during the Gold Rush. Today you can come face to face with a black bear since they were introduced in 1933.

Drive all around the lake!

It was raining the weekend we were there (thunderstorm and all), so we didn't get to really hike with the kids but we drove all around the lake, it's beautiful!

The Discovery Center - Big Bear Lake
The Discovery Center

The discovery center was fun (kind of scary too) for the kids, showing real live animals (dead of course), bears, mountain lions, birds...Free entrance! It has also lots of outdoor activities educational and informational portal to the San Bernardino National Forest, but we didn't get to do that because of the rain.
