"Dallas Life" Dallas by jackiepants

Dallas Travel Guide: 1,373 reviews and 2,542 photos

I've been visiting Dallas at least once a year since 2004, and even lived there for 3 years during college.

There's a lot to see and do, but it's not the best place for poor college student or a traveler on a budget.

There is no easy way to get around downtown Dallas if you're unfamiliar with the city. The districts are spread out, and not within walking distance. You can take the light rail and connecting bus system, but really the best way to get around is renting a car. Even then, some areas are a bit confusing to navigate.

Dallas has a bunch of museums, and is considered by many to be the best shopping destination in Texas. There are many bars, clubs, and other music venues. Sports are also a big deal down here. Every year in the fall, Dallas hosts the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park.

If you're willing to venture outside of the downtown area, you'll find some nice parks as well as more interesting shops and restaurants visited mostly by locals; specifically in the University Park and Lakewood neighborhoods.
