I have a history of celebrating my Birthday in interesting places. This year I decided to celebrate in Budapest. I had always wanted to see this city and was very excited for the trip. We were fortunate enough to have a "guide", Liz's friend Istvan to show us "his" Budapest. There are many beautiful building and many under renovation. Istvan had informed us that they are finaly renovating and restoring many buildings that were alowed to waste away or were damaged during the Communist rule. The people of Budapest still have that lingering hatred of the Communists and I can't say I blame them one bit.
We spent an entire day with Istvan exploring Budapest from the Labrynth all the way to Heros Square at night. It was a fun and educational day. The next day Liz and I celebrated my Birthday with a nice buffet Brunch at the Gellert Hotel followed by some more sightseeing.
This was an amazing trip and I look forward to our return. |
