  • Yes it is $6. But was so worth it. One of the nicest I've seen. On my last trip to Sydney I had wanted to see the Gardens but didn't. I was so glad Liz wanted to see them as well. The Gardens are really beautiful especially the waterfalls. It was a tranquil and serene experience on a beautiful day.

We were here on the 19th of October, 2007.

  • I didn’t come to the Botanical Gardens and Domain until my third trip to Sydney in 2006. Now this has become one of my favorite things to do, especially the walk around the water’s edge from Woolloomooloo to the opera house. This is really one of my favorite Sydney activities. And anyone who goes and stays in Potts Point at least once I think you’ll find yourself doing this.

As you start out you walk along the boardwalk with Woolloomooloo pier on the right. Finally you head up some stairs and onto the path. This goes on past the Swimming club and around to the first corner near Mrs. Macquarie’s chair. Let me tell you, next time I come by here I’m bringing my picnic kit. What a place to kick it for a couple hours and watch the world and harbor traffic go by.

From here you follow it back around the horseshoe all the way to the opera house. A nice pleasant walk, that affords for some fantastic shots.

    Sydney Suburbs: Go See More

  • During your stay you really should get out and explore as much of the area as you can. I'm not really saying leave Sydney and run off to the Blue mountains or something. But do go to the other suburbs like Watson's Bay, Rose Bay, etc. Or even take the bus or rent a car and head up to Palm Beach or Avalon.

  • My last trip had me here during the last weekend of the boat show. The weather was wonderful. 23C and sunny. I sat outside at the end of Cockle Bay reading my book watching the world go by enjoying the wonderful weather that wasnt the heat index of 40C I had left in NYC.

One of the highlights of my trip.

  • The James Craig is a fairly important part of our family. So everyone was thrilled when I finally said I've been to see it. And I am planning to get out on a cruise on it on a future trip.

This wonderful Barque first set said from England on April 6 1874 and made many runs around the world supplying to growing areas of New Zealand and Australia as well as Oregon and Chile.

  • The Bone Ranger is one of those things that makes your visit all the better. The bones exhibit at the Australian Museum really was a lot better than I was expecting.

That along with the mineral exhibits and this was a nice stop on a morning path towards the fish market.

  • Amazing structures in the highly condensed area of Circular Quay. The view of the entire city skyline with the opera house and the bridge on its edges.

I was amazed to learn that it is actually several seperate buildings that form the famous roof.

  • We were walking through Hyde Park when we came upon the Anzac Memorial. It's an impressive Art Deco structure with a reflection pool behind the building. The building itself is a memorial to the Australian Imperial forces of WWI.

There are military statues around the building that are very solemn looking. It reminds me of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery.

  • The Anzac bridge is the longest cable stayed bridge in Australia. It is also on the list of some of the longest cable bridges in the world. The brisdge connects Pyrmont and Rozelle with Sydney's central business district. The bridge spans over Johnstons Bay.

We first saw the bridge while on our way to the Fish Market. It is not as pretty as the Harbour Bridge but it is an interesting structure.

  • When we visited the cathedral it was under serious renovation. Sydney is to host World Youth Day in 2008. It is a Catholic Youth Rally hed every year in different parts of the world. I was unaware of this but Liz is Catholic and has participated in the event before.

The Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Sydney. Inside the cathedral are beautiful stained glass, sculptures and a statue for the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Love your photo of the Opera House, so nice to see a different angle! Bears, didn't know these countries had them, I took heaps of photos in Vancouver, had fun hunting the streets to find them!

Hi Chris, Great Sydney page, I lived there for my first 27 years. Tip, next visit take the ferry to Manly, turn left from Ferry Terminal and walk the foreshore path towards Sydney, spectacular views, you can continue to Harbour Bridge, it will take a day.
