Sydney Harbour: My first morning

  • Fondest Memory: One of my fondest memories of Sydney was my first ever morning here. I was suddenly alone as my friend had missed his flight and would catch up the next day. Checked into the hotel and after a shower and some news I was ready to get my first taste of one of my favorite ever cities.

Well I walked the two or so blocks to Circular Quay and started to be amazed. The bridge and the Opera house. The hussle and bussle. The fact it was late fall and sunny and 75. After a little walk about and a few pics I sat on a bench and watched the world. Ok. I had a book infront of me but I was really world watching. So calm. Yet so busy. This saturday morning started a love affair for me with Sydney.

  • Favorite Thing: Not sure that this is a favorite thing or not but it sure isn't a fondest memory.

Sydney is a VERY tourist friendly town. They have many signs and maps all over town as well as information booths that are very easy to find and use. This goes a long way towards making out of towners feel at home here and feel like they are able to get the most out of their "Once in a Lifetime" trip to Sydney.

  • Favorite Thing: Another really great thing about Sydney is that they make it easy for you to keep exploring. This luckily includes public bathrooms.

They are everywhere, especially in the tourist centers. You will often and almost always find a place to easily make a quick pit stop and keep moving.

Thank you Sydney for making your city so tourist friendly.

  • Favorite Thing: This past trip to Sydney was my longest time in the city of all my trips. I saw alot of atractions I had previous and some new ones thanks to Liz. Some of my favorite times wer just walking along the Botanical gardens or riding a ferry. Sydney is a special place and I love showing it to Liz. It was her first visit to Sydney and had always wanted to go since she was a little girl. It was a special time and we got to celebrate her birthday down under.

Fondest Memory: It was great to see The Gondoliers at the Sydney Opera House for Liz's birthday. It was something both of us wanted to do and we were able to get tickets and very good seats.

Love your photo of the Opera House, so nice to see a different angle! Bears, didn't know these countries had them, I took heaps of photos in Vancouver, had fun hunting the streets to find them!

Hi Chris, Great Sydney page, I lived there for my first 27 years. Tip, next visit take the ferry to Manly, turn left from Ferry Terminal and walk the foreshore path towards Sydney, spectacular views, you can continue to Harbour Bridge, it will take a day.
