Pellegrue was the scene for one of the funniest moments of the entire trip. It was New Year’s Day and we were out exploring after our wake up call at around 3pm. The nearest pub to St Ferme is here in town and we had decided we needed to visit. Well… it was closed.
So not wanting to go without doing something in town we decided to head up to the church at the top of the hill. It seemed unbeknownst to us that someone thought it strange a bunch of silly Americans were exploring a church on New Year’s afternoon and felt it their duty to call the police. I was inside the church when they arrived with Patrick and Cecille. But we had the door open enough to see what was going on. They drove up. Checked out the car. Then slowly moved on. Needless to say we laughed. Then got out of there.
On the way out we discovered who had tipped them off. A neighbor peering out their window at us as we left. |
