Green and Yellow Safari Bus - Saint Thomas

Green and Yellow Safari Bus

Safari Bus

As we disembarked from our cruise ship, we walked through Havensight shops to an area a few blocks away where open-air taxis, safari buses, were waiting. They have posted transportation rates - no meters - so you know exactly what you are paying before entering. Of course, it helps to know where you want to go! We just asked the driver for the best snorkeling beach. He said Coki Beach and that the fare was $12 (each way). The vehicle holds about 30 people on bench seats. Our particular vehicle had tourists, locals, and other-islanders in town for a day's shopping. It was a very talkative bunch and we had a delightful ride. We took winding roads up above Charlotte Amalie and could overlook the harbor and cruise ships -- must have been where they take all those postcard photos from!!! Gorgeous views! Then we dropped off some of our new 'friends' at the Kmart and continued to Coki Beach. We asked the driver to return for us and set the hour for pick-up. No problem - he was back to get us and take us to the ship. Could not have been easier.
