When you first pass through the RED/GREEN light customs check point at the San Jose del Cabo airport, you will be inundated with hawkers offering you a free ride to your resort in a luxury motor coach. You may have the urge to put these guys off & simply take a cab..... But: There are no taxis at the airport by design and you want to get to the beach right away, right? So, MAKE A DEAL with one of the guys. Doesn't really matter which one, their goal is to commit you to a time share presentation in exchange for the ride.

The resorts have a budget that they pay to these guys to book your reservation and when you SHOW UP, they get paid. This budget varies by resort but we have found it can go upwards of $200 cash per person. You do have to do some negotiation: i.e. They offer a bottle of tequila & a blanket, you say, “No Thank You”, they increase the offer to include a snorkel trip, you politely say, “No Thank You”, they sweeten the deal with a spa treatment, you peak interest but say “No Thank You”. You get the idea! When the “pot” gets sweet enough for you, make the deal! We have negotiated for straight USD CASH many times and walk out with $400 or $500 cash after the resort presentation!

To secure your gifts, they ask for a $20 deposit which is paid back to you when you show up at the arranged time & view their resort. They write everything down (make sure EVERYTHING you discussed is written down) and give you a ticket receipt. They will tell you NOT to show it to anyone. BECAUSE, you will come across other time share people that will ask if you have booked a presentation & they will attempt to switch you to their resort with an even better deal to add to the deal you just negotiated! So, these tickets are like currency that you can actually trade!

Relax - No stress

Your contact will usually arrange to pick you up outside your resort the next day or two. (They ask you to walk off premise, since each resort wants to keep your money AT their location.) Get in the car, go have a nice breakfast or lunch and walk through a great property. It’s up to you if you buy or not but we have found that if you are pleasant while showing a lack of interest, they will take their 90 minutes and then pay you off so they can sell the next person.

The “gifts” are always paid as promised and can be very lucrative if you go to several different resort presentations during your stay. The industry is very regulated in Cabo and since their entire economy is based on tourism, they want you to come back.

Relax, go to Cabo & have the resorts PAY YOU to check out all the wonderful places they have to offer.

• Pros:The time share presenations can be very eye opening as to what deals are being offered. They pay well to qualified prospects so don't be bashful & arrange gifts that make it worth your while. You're on holiday, don't stress at being approached.
• Cons:Once at the presentation, let them know that you have the 90 minutes they promised but you have ONLY 90 minutes. Do not let them drag out the time, you made a deal & they are bound by law to uphold it.
• In a nutshell:We love the people, the culture, the food, the beaches.... I could go on and on......!
