Snowscooter on Snæfellsjökull

At Arnarstapi you can book a tour to the top of Snæfellsjökull by either snowscooters or snow-mobiles. The views from the top are amazing in good weather.

We took a snowscooter ride in July and it is not quite the best time for it. The glacier accumulates cracks during the summer so in the latter part of the summer it gets dangerous. Because of that we were made to drive in a single line plus the snow had melted a lot so it was hard to managed the scooter. This was still a great fun but probably is even more fun earlier on.

Equipment: Snjófell, the travel agency running these tours, provides helmets, boots, gloves and a snowsuit. You just have to bring some warm undercloths and your camera....

Directions: The office is at Arnarstapi, where you book your tour. The meeting point is at Snæfellsjökull, you get directions and information at the office.
