Be careful when driving around Snæfellsnes because many of the roads have gravel surface. You can drive on these roads on any kind of car but you have to slow down. It happens a few times every year that tourists have accidents on Iceland's gravel roads.
Don't let the scenery disturb your driving on those roads. It is better to stop regularly and enjoy the views with the engine off.
