The tips

This page will never be a thorough introduction to Slovenia, others do a lot better job with that. These are just my recollections of Slovenia and a kind of private photoalbum. However feel free to look for a glimpse of Slovenia.

The trip

We spent some eight days travelling around Slovenia in late May 2004. This trip was absolutely magnificent and we totally fell in love with the country. Especially the beautiful northwestern part of Slovenia, which is in my opinion among the greatest nature places I've ever visited (outside of Iceland of course :-)).
Slovenia is a tiny country and distances are short. The diversity is great, from mountains and waterfalls to castles, caves and sea. I would definately recommend travelling by car if possible. There are many great places, like the Vrata valley, that are difficult to visit without your own wheels.

Our trip was definately made even more pleasureable by our local hosts, Vasja and Irena. Although our time together was short we enjoyed it a lot and your hospitality was unforgetable. Thank you guys a lot, I really hope we can return your favours soon.

I understood that the Russian Chapel was for Russian prisoners who died building that road between Bovec and Kranskja Gora....was this wrong? Martin
