Chania´s lighthouse - Prefecture of Heraklion

So I have visited Crete twice. My first trip was in 1999 when me and my girlfriend spent two weeks in Crete as a part of our four week graduation vacation. We stayed in a hotel in Hersonissos, which is a typical touristic Mediterrainian holiday town, but quite nice as such. The town is situated approx. 1 hours drive east of Irakleion.

We weren´t old enough to rent a car but instead scared the hell out of ourselves by touring the island on a scooter (of course with no helmets on, see tips). The tips on this page were generated after that trip.

Our second visit was in June 2003 again on graduation vacation (my girlfriend just graduated from university). This time around we were located near Chania and stayed for a week before venturing on a two-weeks island-hopping. The tips I made can be found in my Prefecture of Chania page.

How one can describe Crete? A "must go" island? You rather need to visit it again Snorril! So many things to see , so many things to enjoy!
