Favorite Thing: You must go camping. The forests of New Mexico are grand places offering refuge from the hot deserts to the south and west, the cold mountains from the north, and the dried-out plains of the east. The Lincoln National Forest is located around Cloudcroft and offers many fine places to camp. The summer is the best time to go as it is relatively mild there. However, during the late summer, around August and early September, the nights can get pretty frigid. Just make sure you have something(or someone) you can warm up with.
