Well, where to begin. I lived and worked in Iraq for 15 months. I started out in Al Asad in the Anbar Province, running fuel convoys to supply the Marines, but after a month of that I moved up north near Tikrit, to COB Speicher. My mission included numerous tasks; line haul operations to supply Northern Iraq running general cargo (water, parts, vehicles, you name it), working with TCN's (Third Country Nationals, mainly Turks) who were moving fuel from Turkey through Northern Iraq, and working with ITN's, (Iraqi Transportation Network) helping them move supplies, mainly food and water, throughout Northern Iraq. It's been one hell of an experience.
- Pros:Deep Sense Of History; Helping An Emerging Democracy
- Cons:Sectarian Violence; Terrorism;
- In a nutshell:Still Deadly, But Slowly Moving In The Right Direction

Thanks for sharing this page of Iraq. We see it on CNN all the times but this is a more personal perspective.
You really are the YOUNG and the BRAVE - a new way of looking at VT pages. All the best.
Wow - I bet not many people here have been to Iraq. Could cope with the sandstorms and transport but scorpions in the accomodation might challenge me!
