Beach The Gambia has several very nice beaches. In March the temperature was nice, the water was nice and it was a nice place to stay. A lot of people wan't to make conversation with you. If you don't take the time for that they will say to you; "come on man, it's nice to be nice." |
surprise It's really worth to visit the local people on an excursion. They are very friendly. You can book the excursion through official channels but many people are very willing to provide a personal tour. Most people, working in the tourisme industry know a brother or a nephew who has a car and will guide you through their home village for just a few Dalassi. |
The Gambian village Try to visit a compound when you are in The Gambia. Of course when you visit someone it's a custom to bring a present. In our case we brought soap, matches, candles, sugar, cans with tomatoes, oil. In the picture you see a mother with a child on her back. This is the traditional way to carry young children around. |
