My Home town

Melbourne from Bolte bridge
I have lived in Melbourne for most of my life, so it fits like a pretty comfortable shoe.

It is not a flashy or spectacular city, lacking the narural beauty of Sydney's harbour setting, though it does have many gems to hold the resident's or visitor's attention.

Melbourne is the second largest city in Australia, and still reaps the benefits of the riches that passed through it during Australia's Gold Rush in the middle of the 1800's, and the Boom Times of the Marvellous 90's, when it was the wealthiest city in the country, and maybe even the world.

The city has a temperate climate, which is famously changeable -don't like the weather - just wait 10 minutes!

After decades of turning it's back on the waterfront, we've finally realised it'sd benefits, with new developments on the banks of the famous muddy Yarra, and on the once rather moribund docks areas.
So what should the visitor do if you happen on our shores. Here are some modest suggestions

-Go for a ride around the city on one of our iconic trams
-Take in a football or cricket game at the MCG (depends on the season)
-Have a coffee in a Southbank or St Kilda cafe, and watch the world go by
-Roller blde along the beach along Beaconsfield Parade
-Laze on the grass in the Botanic Gardens, and check out the flowers too

The Yarra river often runs brown. That's because it carrys quire a bit of silt. But in town, the wide expansed reflect our blue skies, cormorants perch on boats moored by the side and the bells ring on the bridge in our great new city park at Birrarung Marr
