At the moment I make a point to visit more places in my local area, like St Aposteln church in Cologne with its unusual paintings. I had passed by this church about a thousand times before, but never before went inside!
For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.
(J.R.R. Tolkien)
My newest pages are:
CAERLEON (Wales) - Fascinating Roman history
HEGGEN (Germany) - A small village in the Sauerland
DORCHESTER (England) - Europe's biggest iron age hill fort and more...

Places I visit very frequently but have not yet built pages about are: Bonn, Brühl and Duisburg (all in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany)
My parents really like to travel, but my dad is a musician, so we never had the money to do fancy trips. That's why as a child I have never been to Spain, Italy and all the places where usual Germans in my age have spent their childhood travels.
Instead, we always went to Denmark and camped in a nature preserve area directly by the sea. That really was an adventure I never would like to miss! We also did many small trips within Germany, so I saw a lot of hidden and beautiful places in my own country. I also did a few trips to the Benelux countries, and to France, either with my parents or as school trips.
After finishing school I wanted to study immediately. I already had my CoE, a room etc., when I read about work&travel in Australia. I never had heard about it before, had no idea about Australia and never dreamed about going abroad - but after reading about this possibility I couldn't sleep for three nights. After the third night, I knew I had no choice but going to Australia or not go and regretting it my whole life! Three months later I boarded the plane to Brisbane. I worked on cattle stations for a few weeks and then went down from Cairns to Sydney - a trip that really changed my whole life: Who I am, my idea of life and how I see everything around me.
Since then, travel has been a major part of my life. The travel bug has caught me and I know there is no remedy! I am dreaming of many destinations far away, but I also like to explore places that are just around the corner. You can find interesting things anywhere, so I like to visit towns in my region in Germany as well as travelling to places further away. What counts is just the curiosity, the urge to learn something new and to find out about things. To see how other people live and what they think, how their lives were in the past and how the present was shaped... I am very interested in nature, animals and landscapes, but also like arts and architecture (though I don't know much about it), cities and museums, and nearly everything that is somehow interesting. History has always been a favourite topic of mine.
There is the whole beautiful world out there to explore! I am looking forward to it every day :-)
My VT pages only start with my first trip to Australia, that is, with November 2006. If you wish to read some short lines about my travels before that, please see my Pre-Australia travels travelogue!

Thank you for the nice comment on my Alkmaar page Mirjam. Yes, we watched the game yesterday - very dramatic!
Hi Mirjam, thanks for your ratings and nice comment on my Bad Homburg page. The Hölderlin Path is very convenient for me since it passes almost by my house. Well, not quite, but just a short distance away.
I will be in Hamburg in July to board the QM2. My granddaughter will be travelling to Hamburg with me by train from Paris...then she flies back for Uni.

Hi Mirjam !
Thanks for passing by ma Burma-sites!
Don't hesitate to visit, as tourism increases sharply and is probably spoiling the cultural charisma of many places !
Hello Mirjam! Thank you for visiting my India page. Visiting Ladakh in the north was the highlight of that trip.
Mirjam~ Thanks for visiting my St Goar page! It is a pleasant place to visit and take visitors to...something I plan to do once again in a few weeks as we have guests coming over. That whole part of the Rhein is just spectacular! Thanks again! ~Brenda
