I am really trying to make sense of Florence. I loved the city and would go back in a heartbeat, but many of the famous sites leave me with a rather empty feeling, The Uffuzi Gallery and the Academia were major disappointments, but Alice's Masks an the the Market are both gems that most people will walk by without every noticing, Perhaps this is what I liked about the city; a surprise around every corner.

View of the famous Ponte Vecchio at night. A great photo op, but it is rather overpriced and touristy. That does not make it any less fun, just remember that you should not expect a bargain from the jewellers here. Premium price and premium location seem to go hand-in-hand.

A view of Florence from the top of the Duomo. The Medici's chose a great location; the setting and food are wonderful. All the tourists know about it too, so don't expect too many "unknown" treasures in the area. The known treasures are enough for most people's lifetime.
