The Jame'asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque was built by the current Sultan. An impressive piece of architecture that is just outside of Bandar Seri Begawan.
We just love wandering through the markets. They really give you an insight into how things operate in that particular part of the world.
The abundance of fish- fresh and dried speaks to the proximity of the sea and the fishing background of the people
Inhabited for over 1 000 years and home to about 10 percent of Brunei's inhabitants. Houses on stilts, connected by bridges and boardwalks. It has schools, shops and mosques.
No cars though. Transport is by boat.
- Pros:Unspoiled by tourism
- Cons:Relative few ammenities for tourists.
- In a nutshell:Rich in culture and oil
