Hong Kong was an absolute highlight. We were warned about the overpopulated, busy Kowloon Peninsula where we stayed for four nights. But with such well behaved, organized citizens, the experience was a pleasure.
We stayed 5 minutes away from the Ladies Market which was thrilling. Transport is no problem with all the metered taxis, buses and underground train system. Walking is enjoyable - the sidewalks are wide and spacious and pedestrians are polite.
We spent half a day on Hong Kong island, which was not by far enough. We went up Victoria Hill with the tram, went for a boat ride in the harbour where the famous floating restaurant resides and visited Stanley Market.
There is so much to see and do in Hong Kong and all one needs there is enough time.

One of the most exciting things to do on Hong Kong main land is to walk along the Avenue of the Stars. From here one can look accross the bay at Hong Kong island - and exquisite view. Along the avenue the movie industry is honoured by various statutes dedicated to film stars.

Because of time constraints we took an organized trip to Hong Kong island. We went up to Victoria Peak by tram and enjoyed the most stunning views from there over the rest of the island. We were then taken on a spin through Aberdeen harbour where people still live on house boats. In the same harbour the giant Jumbo floating restaurant resides. The day ended with half an hour at Stanley Market and then we took the road back under the sea to the main land. I would like to go back and spend a few weeks only on this island with its rich history, natural beauty and outstanding culture.
