Kom Ombo & Aswan

by Oana_bic - last update: Apr 23, 2004

The second part of the third day thanks God we had finally the afternoon free...so here we go, me with a couple of beers, relaxing, sun bathing, jumping into the pool, talking with our friends & pretending to read a bit of finance but cheating & reading about Egypt:)
Next day in the morning again slowly navigating & so much enjoying the sun & the amaizing seesights...
Late afternoon, we reached Kom-Ombo town, about 28 miles north of Aswan.

Already nostalgic

Aswan was our last destination in our cruise and we were already so willing to stay & discover more..We were deep into Egyptian biorithm, fully enjoying the slow pace of life & relaxing..Small enough to walk around, we spent two days strolling up and down the broad Corniche watching Felucas, getting henna tattoos, chatting with our new Egyptian friends for hours, puffing Narghileas, getting lost into the souk for hours & exploring spices, perfumes, scarves and shoes...
Aswan used to be the border trading city for Egypt and adjoining Nubia, and the rest of southern Africa.
No wonder that Aswan has quite distinctively African atmosphere.
We had one night Nubian dancers and musicians, recreating scenes from village life and perform the mock stick-fight dances.
