"Oasis by the Dead Sea, between Masada & Jerusalem" `En Gedi by Oana_bic

`En Gedi Travel Guide: 94 reviews and 328 photos

This is an ideal spot to stop if you are driving from Jerusalem to Masada or En Booqeq or the other way around.
You could have a drink and some food with amazing views towards desert, Dead Sea and Jordan as bonus..
I would say its not ideal have a dip as the seashore available for bathing its quite narrow and it tends to be very crowded..Id say En Booqeq - Ein Bookek is a better bet for floating activities and chilling out in the Dead Sea..
Plus besides morning and evenings it tends to get extremely hot here and there are not many umbrellas or much shaddow!

Ein Gedi is quite famous for its caves, springs, and its rich diversity of flora and fauna - theres a national park here which we didnt get the chance to see...

And as everywhere in this holly land Ein Gedi is mentioned several times in biblical writings, for example, in the Song of Songs; "My beloved is unto me as a cluster of henna flowers in the vineyards of Ein Gedi". According to Jewish tradition, David hid from Saul in the caves here; "And David went up from thence, and dwelt in the strongholds of Ein Gedi" ;)
