So after hearing about the Great Wall of China for basically all of my 15 years of existence, I finally got there sometime in early July of 2005. It actually lived up to the hype!
My dad and I got this great driver (named "Barry," email me for his info if you're going to Beijing, he's THAT good) who took us no joke to the stairs of the Great Wall (instead of parking about 3/4mile away like everyone else.) I scaled some steps and was stunned by how steep and difficult the climb truly was, no wonder invaders of China struggled throughout the ages.
On the way back from the Great Wall we stopped by a famous jade factory. Disappointingly, the prices were not dirt cheap like I had anticipated, apparently the jade was top quality. Bummer.
